THE NEWLY UPGRADED FARM COTTAGE:
A Sanctuary for the Senses
Building on A Tradition: Celebrating an 80-year-old Legacy
The newly upgraded Farm Cottages echo the original style of Gibb’s Farm guest cottages, Building on A Tradition. A number of improvements have been made in response to suggestions by loyal clients: more windows to bring the gardens and Ngorongoro Forest Reserve into view; larger bathrooms; greater privacy; and access to the surrounding flower gardens from private verandahs.
The 14 newly completed Farm Cottages mark the beginning of a new era for GIBB’S FARM. All remaining Standard Rooms will be renovated in 2008, and we will have 20 Farm Cottages, featuring rich wooden floors and classic interiors with wraparound windows. En-suite garden bathrooms offer twin basins, luxurious bathtubs and indoor/ outdoor showers. A wraparound fireplace warms the bathroom and living area.
Standard Rooms
In the 1960s James and Margaret Gibb were receiving so many friends that they built new quarters for the farmhands and moved regular guests into the staff quarters. They soon ran out of space again and finally in 1972 they built two small guest rooms and officially started a guesthouse at Gibb’s Farm.
Five more small cottages soon came up to house the numbers. Today this charming cluster of cottages remains, and eleven more have since been built, of various styles and sizes. Set among the Farm’s lush herb and flower gardens, the cozy cottages feel like home.
A Sense of Place & History
Gibb’s Farm is currently undergoing major expansions, upgrades and improvements. However, this is a tempered improvement process, not a complete transformation in any way. Gibb’s Farm is deeply committed to honoring the historical value of the Farm, and maintaining a sense of place; a sense of history.
